Medical Collections Specialist –Manila, Philippines

Are you efficient, empathetic, and experienced in medical collections? We’re searching for a top-tier medical collections specialist to provide superior support to our patients regarding their accounts. The perfect candidate will excel in clear and effective communication, demonstrate self-motivation, and maintain high productivity with minimal supervision. Positioned within a call center environment, this role requires flexibility, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to remain composed under pressure, with an expected call volume of between 50 and 70 calls daily.

Job Description

  • Achieve and Surpass Call Center Metrics: You will be responsible for meeting and exceeding call center metrics, including handle rate, talk time, work time, hold time, and not-ready time.
  • Deliver Exceptional Customer Service: On every call, you will provide exceptional customer service and professionalism, ensuring patient satisfaction and support.
  • Accurately Speak to Billing Policies: You will need to accurately communicate billing policies to customers, ensuring clarity and understanding.
  • Professional Account Documentation: Document accounts professionally and in alignment with department standards, maintaining high-quality records.
  • Manage Insurance Information and Claims: Update insurance information, explain claims adjudication and EOBs, collect patient responsibilities, and manage financial transactions with accuracy.
  • Resolve Problems Independently: You will independently resolve problems through research and a solution-based approach, enhancing customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Escalate and Follow Up on Unresolved Problems: Escalate unresolved issues to Management and ensure timely follow-up, maintaining a seamless flow of information and problem resolution.
  • Communicate Professionally: Maintain high standards of verbal and written communication, effectively interacting with patients, customers, and team members.

Job Requirements

  • Medical Industry Knowledge: A clear understanding of medical industry standards and healthcare laboratory billing procedures is essential.
  • HIPAA and Compliance: Knowledge of HIPAA laws to maintain patient confidentiality and compliance.
  • Billing Software Experience: Experience with medical billing software is preferred. The candidate should also possess knowledge of ABN, Appeals, EOBs, CPT, and ICD-10 coding.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary for effective customer and intra-organizational interactions.
  • Organizational Skills: The candidate should be well-organized and detail-oriented, multitask, and prioritize work effectively.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), enhancing operational efficiency and reporting.
  • Educational Background: A high school diploma or G.E.D. is necessary. However,  candidates should preferably possess a bachelor’s degree.
  • Relevant Experience: Candidates must have at least one year of direct experience in medical billing or a claims/billing environment. They must also showcase their ability to negotiate, resolve problems, and manage order entry effectively.
