Debpratim Banerjee, Team Leader at Fusion CX Durgapur_Fusion CX careers

Hitting targets when the wind is at your back is easy; real leadership is forged when the storm hits. For Debpratim Banerjee, Team Leader at Fusion CX in Durgapur, the true measure of operational success is not found on a green dashboard or a spreadsheet report, but it is found in the human transformation happening on the floor. When a seasoned leader watches their team grow, the real magic happens: people become less dependent on you, ownership surfaces in their actions, leadership capabilities flourish, and a team learns to truly rely on each other. Since joining Fusion CX in 2021, Debpratim has mastered this exact shift, turning high-stakes escalations and chaotic situations into collaborative, shared victories day after day.

Fueled by dark coffee, instrumental morning playlists, and a secret love for crossing items off detailed to-do lists, he brings calm precision to global operations. Through our #FUSIONFACES, we celebrate a leader who proves that the ultimate professional impact is not about making yourself indispensable, but about building people so capable that they can move forward without you.

Responsibility Before Recognition

Leadership did not begin for Debpratim with a designation. It developed through responsibility.

His workday now spans several layers of the operation: monitoring team performance, handling escalations, resolving operational issues, coordinating with stakeholders, supporting process-related queries, and ensuring daily targets and quality standards remain on track. He also works on workflow efficiency, looking for ways to make the operation better rather than simply keeping it moving.

That breadth has changed the way he thinks about responsibility.

Managing multiple priorities and escalations simultaneously once felt challenging. With experience, planning, and better prioritization, he became more confident in deciding what needed attention first and what could wait. Today, performance dashboards, Excel reports, regular team connect sessions, and a daily task list help him keep the moving pieces visible.

There is something telling about that habit. Debpratim likes structure, but he does not use structure to distance himself from people. He uses it to create enough clarity to be available for them. His view of Fusion CX reflects the same idea. For him, the organization represents collaboration, customer focus, operational excellence, continuous learning, and the opportunity to make a positive impact through leadership and problem-solving.

The title may identify his role. The responsibilities are what shaped it.

Learning to Lead People, Not Just Performance

Performance tells a leader where the team is. It does not always explain why it got there.

That is why Debpratim’s first instinct when someone is struggling is to understand the root cause. He listens, identifies gaps or obstacles, and then works with the team member through guidance, coaching, and support. It is a subtle distinction, but an important one. A metric can tell you that performance has changed. A conversation can help you understand what needs to change next.

His preferred coaching rhythm is regular one-on-one sessions. Instead of leaving feedback as a general observation, he focuses on specific feedback, recognizes achievements, and creates actionable improvement plans. That gives the team member something concrete to work on and a clearer sense that development is something they participate in rather than something done to them.

The same principle shapes how he keeps people steady when the day becomes difficult. He communicates clearly, reinforces the positive, stays available, breaks challenges into manageable pieces, and recognizes individual effort.

The objective is not simply to get through a difficult day. It is to help people learn how to handle the next one better.

When Growth Becomes a Team Story

For Debpratim, one of the most rewarding parts of leadership is seeing individual development translate into collective performance. A recent proud moment came when his team achieved its performance and quality targets while managing operational challenges. The numbers mattered, but what made the moment more meaningful was seeing team members improve their performance and gain confidence along the way. That distinction says a great deal about how he measures progress.

A target can be achieved once. Confidence can change how someone approaches every subsequent target.

A team can be told what to do. A developed team begins to understand how to respond when circumstances change.

For Debpratim, growth is therefore not an individual story. It becomes a team story when people who have gained confidence begin to take ownership, support colleagues, and contribute more independently to shared outcomes.

Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders

There is a particular kind of satisfaction in watching someone you once coached become capable of coaching themselves. Debpratim’s leadership is built around creating that possibility. His one-on-one sessions give people space to discuss what is holding them back. His feedback gives them direction. Recognition tells them what they are already doing well. Action plans give them something tangible to build on.

Over time, those small interventions can become something much larger than improved performance.

People become more confident in their decisions. They take greater ownership. They begin to handle challenges with less dependence on others. And eventually, some of them are ready to take on responsibilities beyond the role they started in. For Debpratim, seeing team members progress into supervisory positions is especially meaningful because it makes development visible. His contribution is no longer limited to what the team achieved while he was leading it. It continues through the people who have grown under his guidance.

That is perhaps the most powerful form of professional impact: not being indispensable, but helping others become capable enough to move forward without you beside them at every step.

When the Team Stands Taller Together

Some of Debpratim’s strongest leadership memories date back to severe weather in Durgapur around 2023–24. Continuous heavy rainfall caused major disruption, with absenteeism reaching challenging levels and daily targets seeming almost impossible to achieve.

Yet his team made its way to the floor despite weather-related delays, quickly caught up with the required pace, worked extended hours to achieve, and even exceed the target. Their support extended beyond the workplace, too, with team members helping colleagues get home safely after their shifts, even when it meant getting home late themselves.

For Debpratim, the experience captured what teamwork truly means:

“During any challenge, the impossible becomes possible when the team stands together, supports one another, and goes the extra mile.” Debpratim Banerjee, TL Fusion CX Durgapur, India

What stayed with him was not simply that the target was achieved, but how people took ownership, supported one another, and stayed committed when circumstances were at their most difficult. It was a moment when teamwork became more than a value; it became something the team lived.

Still Learning, Still Leading

Debpratim’s own development has never been separate from his desire to keep learning. Outside the immediate demands of operations, he explores new technology and process-improvement ideas. He reads about mythology and personal development. His curiosity keeps him looking for another way to understand something, improve something, or make a process work better.

That curiosity is also part of what keeps him motivated.

His family responsibilities keep him grounded. The growth of his team gives him professional purpose. Seeing people develop their skills, achieve their goals, and contribute to collective success encourages him to keep learning and giving his best. And then there are the small rituals that make the person behind the Team Leader visible.

Debpratim is a morning person who prefers coffee and calm playlists. A dark coffee with instrumental music can instantly lift his mood. He enjoys time with his family, short walks, and music after work. His comfort food is anything his mother makes, and Robert Downey Jr. is his current favorite actor.

He secretly enjoys making detailed to-do lists and crossing items off because, as he puts it, that small victory never gets old. Even his imagined alter ego during a serious escalation has an operational flavor: an air traffic controller, guiding projects rather than planes.

It is an unexpectedly perfect image for someone whose work often involves keeping several moving pieces on course.

A Legacy Built Through People

The strongest leadership stories do not end with the leader. They continue through the people who were coached, encouraged, trusted, and given room to develop.

For Debpratim, growth at Fusion CX has meant taking on greater responsibility, learning how to manage complexity, and becoming more confident in leadership. But the more compelling part of his journey is what happened alongside that progression: team members became stronger, challenges became shared, and people he supported moved toward greater responsibility themselves.

His measure of leadership therefore extends beyond performance. It is in the person who approaches the next challenge with more confidence. It is in the colleague who begins taking ownership. And it is in the team that knows how to stand together when the day becomes demanding.

And perhaps most importantly, it is in the people who eventually discover that they are ready for a bigger role. Because when a leader helps people grow, the result is never limited to one team or one moment.

The work moves forward. The people move forward. And the leader’s impact moves with them.
