Job Description – Penetration Tester

About the Role

As a Penetration Tester at Fusion CX, you will be responsible for assessing application and network vulnerabilities, simulating attack scenarios, and delivering actionable insights through detailed test plans and reports. Your technical expertise and problem-solving mindset will be central to protecting client environments from evolving cyber threats.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct penetration testing (ethical hacking) on applications and network environments
• Create and document testing plans and detailed penetration test reports
• Demonstrate a strong passion for white-hat hacking and cybersecurity
• Apply an out-of-the-box thinking approach to security testing
• Perform reconnaissance and network surveys to map target environments accurately
• Research security tools and exploits; contribute by blogging about new security discoveries
• Gain proficiency in the following areas:
• Web applications and services
• Firewalls, IPsec & SSL VPNs, IDS/IPS, WLANs
• Database functions, interactions, and communication patterns
• Commercial and open-source security tools (e.g., Nessus, Nmap, Netcat, Metasploit, Burp Suite, Bloodhound, Empire, Wireshark, hypervisors, live distros)
• Scripting in Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, Bash, and application development
• Stay updated with the latest tools, threats, countermeasures, and technologies
• Share knowledge and mentor peers and new team members
• Develop and improve internal tools, templates, and methodologies
• Analyze vulnerabilities, identify weaknesses, exploit them, and escalate access appropriately
• Assist in malware analysis and breach investigation efforts
• Proactively ask questions and seek clarity during complex engagements

Job Requirements – Penetration Tester

Qualifications & Skills

• Strong foundation in ethical hacking practices and procedures
• Proven experience in web application penetration testing using OWASP methodology
• Proficient in using offensive security tools such as Fiddler, Burp Suite, and SQLmap
• Experience managing systems and networks across both Windows and Unix platforms
• Understanding of general information security principles
• Required: Coding and scripting experience in Python and Bash
• Demonstrated experience in identifying and resolving security vulnerabilities—either in personal labs or capture-the-flag environments
• Ability to communicate clearly with C-level executives, technical teams, and non-technical stakeholders
• Maintains composure under pressure and interacts professionally with colleagues at all levels

Preferred (Advantageous):

• Background in penetration testing of operational technologies (OT)
• Certifications such as OSCP or OSWE
• Red team capability
